PSA Oxygen Generator Systems
GENERON® PSA Oxygen Generators separate Oxygen from compressed air utilizing innovative Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) technology. Compressed air (21% oxygen, 78% nitrogen) is first passed along a bed of ZMS (Zeolite Molecular Sieve). Then, the sieve adsorbs the nitrogen and moisture over oxygen, allowing the oxygen to pass as product gas at pressure. One tower begins the adsorption phase while other tower regenerates by de-pressurizing, meanwhile the sieve releases adsorbed gases into the atmosphere, and the process is then repeated. The solid-state controller manages process valves with built-in logic for an automatic stop/start. Regardless of peak usage demands, purity and Oxygen flow will remain constant. Under standard operating conditions and correct maintenance, the ZMS is expected to have a nearly indefinite lifetime.
A solid state programmable controller operates the process valves on an alternating cycle, with built-in logic for automatic stop/start. Oxygen flow and purity remain constant regardless of the peak usage demands. Under normal operating conditions and with correct maintenance the zeolite molecular sieve will have an almost indefinite lifetime.
PSA Oxygen Generation Principle of Operation
Our O2 PSA Generators work similarly to our N2 PSA Generators with one difference. Absorption media within the vessel for an O2 PSA is ZMS, while for N2 PSA the material is CMS. For both, compressed air feeds into a single absorption tower. For the Oxygen generator, Nitrogen in the air absorbs onto the Zeolite surface while Oxygen passes through the vessel at a desired purity. Once the Zeolite absorption material is fully Nitrogen-saturated, compressed air will switch to a different vessel that continues absorption while the first vessel regenerates.
During the regeneration process, when pressure is released into atmospheric pressure, Zeolite releases Nitrogen that was being stored on its surface. This process occurs because Zeolite’s unique properties. Compressed air will be switched from vessel to vessel by an array of valves in a precise sequence, taking advantage of the unique properties.
This process results in a continuous flow of O2 for a variety of applications.
